Unfolding Historical Facts, Events and Figures
The Battles of The American Civil War
The Civil War was one of the most devastating events in American History. It was the terrible and disastrous combat in American history. While the Radical Change of 1776-1783 created the United States, the Civil War of 1861-1865 established what type of nation it would be. This was the battle between the Union and Confederate states of America. The eleven southern Confederate states, led by Jefferson Davis, battle for liberty from the Unites States. The war settled two essential concerns left unsettled by the revolution: whether the United States was to be a dissolvable union of dominant states or an inseparable nation with a autonomous national government; and whether this country, born of a declaration that all men were born with an equivalent right to freedom, would remain as the biggest slaveholding nation in the world. The Confederate states battle against the Union states, led by Abraham Lincoln, which were also called the Free states. The confederate states announced their secession and the Union states considered this as rebellion. The war ended with the surrender of the Confederate states after a four year long bloody battle leading to over 600,000 casualties.
The Civil War resolved many of the significant quiries of the American study: freed or captive, single or numerous, joined or separated. But it did so at an extensive cost.
